* Some of the dates used at TGIF are from the period before the birth of Christ. They are indicated by the letters BC. Early dates in the period after Christ's birth are indicated by the letters AD. Some dates are preceded by the abbreviation c, which stands for "circa", the Latin for "about". The c is used by historians to show they are unsure exactly when a particular event took place.
