Is it a custom roadster? Is it an open-air sports car? Is it a hot-rod pickup? It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
The all-new SSR, coming from Chevrolet. Designed to be sleek, built to be noticed, SSR is the vehicle that captures the Chevrolet brand and design heritage - with all of today’s engineering technology. Chevy SSR. V8 power. Rear-wheel drive. And a retractable hardtop. SSR. Scheduled to arrive at your Chevy dealership on a limited-production basis in early 2003. CHEVROLET SSR
Chevrolet’s concept SSR roadster truck,  rolled onto the stage sporting a retro look, with bulging fenders framing the wheel wells on this two-door pickup with a power- retractable convertible top. GM officials describe the SSR—which stands for Super Sport Roadster—as an "open-air sports car with unparalleled cargo room and flexibility."  The SSR carries a high-tech 6.0-liter V8 under the hood and features a power-retractable top. At the back, the SSR has a tonneau lid. Inside, designers sought flexibility, too, so the center storage console can convert into a third-seat. Thus, there’s no gearshift lever in the middle of the car. Shifter buttons are on the steering wheel instead. The interior is clean, and most driver controls can be hidden behind a panel door on the dashboard.
